PRLog -- Summer Camp is 'the perfect storm' for a lice epidemic. Here is the reason: head to head contact. The primary way that lice is spread is touching heads. At summer camp, kids have lots of downtime, writing letters, lying on each other's bunks, sharing brushes and hair accessories in preparation for the ever popular talent show. You get the idea, tons of opportunity for head to head contact. There are two things a parent can do: educate your child before camp, and take advantage of excellent non-toxic lice prevention products. Teach your child not to share hats or brushes. Ask them to wear their hair in a braid or ponytail. That will help a lot! Lice Expert Elisa Zalopany of Terminitters recommends a product line called Nit Free. "We sell a lot of it, it smells good and it works!" The Nit Free Mousse is an enzyme that breaks starts to dissolve the lice, and loosens the 'glue' of the nits. If parents use the product, a week or so before camp, that greatly reduces the chance of getting pulled out of line for the bus to camp, due to lice. Also parents can send a repellant spray, all organic and pesticide free, which further reduces the chance for an infestation. Lice will always pick the easiest target - clean, unprotected hair, that is not tied back. Nit Free products are reasonably priced and available on Elisa's Terminitters website.
