June 22, 2012 - PRLog -- On June 20, 2012 the Encinitas City Council allocated $150,000 to forty three (43) arts and civic organizations through the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant Program (CGP). “This year, the City decreased the number of grants awarded but significantly increased the size of the grants,” said Encinitas Mayor Jerome Stocks. Of the 43 funded organizations, 6 received 100% of their request, 12 received 90% and 13 received 80%. The Stardust Arts was one of the 43 funded, non-profits that received 90% of their request, and is returning for the second year in a row.

“This generous donation by the Mizel Family Foundation is a most special and wonderful gift to the Encinitas non-profit community “, stated Encinitas Mayor Jerome Stocks.

A goal of the City Council was to provide seed money for new programs in the community. “The Stardust Arts is excited to bring the “Angels Program” to Encinitas – a visual art program that provides the development of creativity and imagination in art to the youth of the Encinitas Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito. “Thanks to the grant program and the vision of city leaders, for this gift to the community. We are looking forward to another exciting year of adventure and reaching for the stars”, said Cheryl Ehlers, Stardust Arts, Art Director/Instructor. “Last year brought a first time art exhibition, entries in the Arts Alive Banner project and special requests for additional community exhibitions of the youth art.  It was a great experience for everyone”!

Stardust Arts is a joint ventured non-profit with Dr. Wilderness Show and is an awarded program that is recognized by the California State Assembly and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
