Follow on Google News | Chambers Ranks Davis & Wilkerson Health Law Group as One of the Nation’s BestDavis & Wilkerson (www.dwlaw.com) announced today that its healthcare practice group has been ranked among the best in the country in the 2012 edition of "Chambers USA–America's Leading Lawyers for Business."
By: Davis & Wilkerson The firm is the only small law firm (less than 100 employees) to be ranked in the top two tiers for healthcare. That size is actually an advantage with clients, said Davis & Wilkerson shareholder Kevin Reed. “Our clients appreciate the fact that they are getting big-firm expertise and small-firm attention and rates,” said Reed, which Chambers describes as “one of the best healthcare attorneys in the state.” “By that I mean our clients are working with an experienced, knowledgeable attorney at all times, and not being passed on to a lawyer fresh out of law school” he said Two of those seasoned attorneys that Reed alludes to are Fletcher Brown and Jennifer Claymon. Like Reed, Brown is an expert in hospital governance issues and has worked closely with the Texas Hospital Trustees organization helping to train new hospital board members for more than 15 years. In describing Brown, Chambers wrote that he “advises on a number of healthcare and healthcare-related issues, including compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and transactional aspects of the sale or lease of hospitals to larger hospital systems.” Claymon, meanwhile, “focuses on health and employment law. She has experience over a range of issues, such as representing employers in investigations by the EEOC, the Texas Workforce Commission and the DOL, Wage & Hour Division,” according the Chambers. Reed added that Claymon has enhanced her expertise into other areas as well. “She is a recognized expert in hospital contractual relationships and she conducts regulatory compliance reviews for several major Texas hospital systems,” he said. Overall, Chambers described the firm as “a key player in the healthcare market.” “The team is instructed on a range of issues, including legislative matters, affiliation negotiations and assisting healthcare clients with day-to-day operational legal matters,” the editors wrote. “The team is also highly regarded for its work with independent and rural hospitals in the state and has a number of small community hospitals as its clients. The group represented Smithville Regional Hospital in the transfer of its operations to the Seton Family of Hospitals.” About Davis & Wilkerson Davis & Wilkerson (www.dwlaw.com) The commitment extends to its charitable work as well. It has regularly contributed funds and expertise to help individuals and families receive cost-free legal assistance through the Volunteer Legal Services (VLS) of Central Texas. This contribution was recognized in 2006 when the firm received the prestigious Joseph P. Hart Award, which is given each year to a firm that demonstrates the integrity and commitment to provide legal assistance for those without the ability to obtain that assistance on their own. In addition to D&W’s involvement with VLS, the firm’s attorneys and staff contribute time and money in service to more than two dozen other charitable Austin organizations. End
