Jerry Brown Named the 2012 Friend of Funeral Service By the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 21, 2012 - ROSEVILLE, Minn. – June 21, 2012 – Service to the community is an important core value for members of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association. The statewide organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing funeral service excellence for families throughout Minnesota, recently named Jerry Brown its 2012 Friend of Funeral Service for his dedication to funeral service excellence to families all across the state.

Brown was instrumental in co-founding the Children’s Grief Connection, a free camp that provides opportunities for children suffering the loss of a parent, sibling or friend. The organization lets children talk through their grief and work towards enjoying childhood again.

“The camp he helped start by riding around the state on horseback has dramatically changed the lives of more than one thousand Minnesota children,” said Minnesota Funeral Directors Association Executive Director Gary Anderson. “It really has made an impact that will last generations.”

Service to the community is a key mission of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association. Through dedication to local families, the organization and its members provide the ultimate service in the time of need.

“Service to families, communities and the profession are very important to our leadership and all of our members,” Anderson said. “Jerry Brown has achieved all of this and more as a true leader in our industry.”

Along with his service to the community, Brown has been an important contributor to Minnesota Funeral Directors Association publications since 1963. His trilogy of funeral service poems have appeared in publications throughout the country and have been a fixture of the association’s annual service remembrance.

In total, Brown has been a strategic partner to the funeral service industry in Minnesota for  more than 50 years.
