Mason, born in Indianapolis, Indiana, always knew he was born to be a star. Growing up, he was inspired by country legends such as Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. Matt Mason began playing his guitar everywhere he went and landed right where he always wanted to be, Nashville, TN. In 2006, out of the 20,000 auditioning hopefuls, Mason made it to the top 10 on the USA Network’s Nashville Star. Placing fourth overall, Matt made it onto the Nashville Star Tour. This experience led Mason to audition for CMT’s ‘Next Superstar’ of country music, and in 2011, Mason took that title. Mason will be showcasing his award winning talents while opening for Casey James on July 6th, 2012.
Casey James grew up in Cool, Texas; beginning early on the guitar following both his parents footsteps. Nearly a decade
before his participation on American Idol, James was performing and creating music. In 2009 James made the career-changing
decision to audition for American Idol. In 2010 James finished as 3rd finalist on the show, however, that would not be the last
we would hear from him. In 2011, James began his tour with Sugarland. While on tour, James continued to work on his own
album and perform at his own shows. After 12 years and hundreds of hours of practice, it finally paid off. On March 20th, 2012
the Casey James debut album was released. James co-wrote 9 out of the 11 songs on the CD, including his Top 30 Hit, “Let’s
Don’t Call it a Night”.
The Bluestone is honored to be a part of this Heartland Bank concert series to benefit the USO and welcomes Casey James and
Matt Mason to The Bluestone’s stage. The Bluestone is a 114-year old Baptist church renovated into a unique, private event
space and concert hall. With a more intimate concert setting than most, this is sure to be a great show, great experience as well
as for a great cause.
