Formic Media Makes Donation to Help Prepare Emerging Students For Success In the Work Place

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 19th, 2012) – Formic Media, Inc., a digital marketing agency specializing in search engine and social media marketing, announced that it would be making a $500 donation to Cascade Academy Foundation (CAF).  CAF is a local non-profit organization that supports hands-on opportunities for students such as summer internships and work preparedness activities.  CAF partners with local Portland-area businesses and educators to help prepare the emerging workforce for future success.

Formic’s Director of Account Services, Anna Hutson serves on the CAF Board and has spent time working with students through CAF programs such as the annual mock-interview event and summer internship program.  

“It’s a privilege to be able to interact and work one-on-one with students and provide them with real-time feedback and workforce perspective. Their eagerness to soak up the experience and information is incredibly rewarding to see,” stated Hutson.

Formic Media has always had a commitment to the local community it serves. When founding the company, President Kent Lewis instituted an annual Charity of Choice program where Formic donates its online marketing expertise to one charity organization for an entire year. This year’s annual Charity of Choice is Social Venture Partners Portland. However, Lewis thought the company could do more, so a quarterly Charity of Choice program was created where Formic makes a cash donation. The most recent Charity of Choice recipient was the Oregon Food Bank, who has been fighting hunger state-wide for 30 years.

Formic Media's involvement in Reynolds High School's Career Fair in October, Mock Interviews this Spring, and commitment to Summer internship opportunities for our students, has benefited many students already. Formic's efforts for CAF will truly generate positive energy towards helping our young students," said Tracey Williams, Reynolds High School Career & Guidance Counselor.

CAF was created as a partnership between business leaders and educators to help prepare young people for future careers through a combination of school-based curricula and hands on work-based experiences. Businesses in the community meet with educators monthly to plan activities and events that directly involve students and help them to gain the work ethic and skills they need for tomorrow's workforce.
