In addition to Grain Valley, RERC has been assisting various municipalities on similar projects across the Midwest. RERC’s analysis supported two bond issues totaling approximately $325 million for the Village West Redevelopment Area—a 1.5 million sq ft retail and entertainment project in Kansas City, Kansas. RERC also assisted the City of Manhattan, Kansas with a downtown redevelopment project, including a mix of shopping, hotel, dining, and entertainment options. The City of Manhattan issued bonds totaling approximately $71 million. As with the Village West project, RERC estimated the sales taxes generated by the proposed development, which were used to back the bond issue.
