The Bangles, whose 1980’s hits include “Walk Like an Egyptian”, “Manic Monday”, “Hazy Shade of Winter” and “Eternal Flame”, recently released their latest album Sweetheart of the Sun to rave reviews. Sponsored by the City of Newport Beach, Visit Newport Beach, Newport Dunes Resort and The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, Fairmont Newport Beach and The Current newspaper, the two-day festival will feature live performances by top tribute bands including Led Zeppagain, Steely Jam, Knyght Ryder, Urban Dread, Carlos The Experience and Blackstar, as well as a gourmet food truck competition, aquatic park activities, and the biggest fireworks display being held along the southern California coast. “We are honored to announce the inaugural Newport Beach Independence Day on the Bay at the scenic Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, says Andy Theodorou, Vice President and General Manager of Newport Dunes. “This is our down payment effort to make Newport Beach the future focal point for July 4th activities in southern California.” Continuing its summer tradition with all-day family fun festivities including carnival games, crafts, face painting and barbeque, the Dunes gates open at 7:00AM and the music festival will begin on Wednesday, July 4 at 12:00 PM and will conclude with fireworks at 9:00 PM. On Thursday, July 5, the music festival will resume at 3:00PM, featuring more than 12 food trucks, with the last band ending at 9:00 PM. Admission to the park on Wednesday is $60 per car and includes general admission for the concert area. VIP concert tickets are available for $75 per person and include VIP parking, drink tickets and food in a premium concert seating area. General admission concert tickets will be available for $20 per person for walk-ins. On Thursday, Dunes general admission will be $25 per car including general admission for the concert area. For guests wishing to purchase a two-day car pass, the cost is $85 and includes general admission to the concert area both days. VIP tickets can be purchased by calling 949-729-3863.
