OnRamp, which owns and operates several trailer dealerships through the U.S. under which they sell Wabash, Utility, East, Transcraft and other brands, announced the program as a sister program to its tractor sub-lease program. OnRamp’s tractor sub-lease program supplies moderately used tractor equipment that is still under its first lease term. The tractors are targeted at contractors who run for approved carriers, and have lower weekly payments, lower miles, improved fuel economy and lower maintenance costs.
“These two programs put more purchasing power into the hands of contractors and owner-operators, who for too long have not had the wherewithal to acquire the right kinds of equipment for today’s trucking environment,”
The program is designed to help approve contractors and owner-operators who are in or have recently gone through the recruiting and contracting process with one of OnRamp’s approved carries. These carriers, who are located throughout the United States and run a variety of trucking applications, refer their contractors to OnRamp’s Leasing Department where dry, refrigerated, flatbed and other trailer types can be acquired. Term lengths vary and payment plans are set in accordance with the carriers’ pay rates.
“We’ve piloted this program with a number of carriers throughout the country and found that contractors are excited to acquire more of the equipment they need for a full trucking operation. For a lot of these men and women, this is the first step towards running their own trucking firm,” said Dietz.
