Bluesfest International (July 13-15), on the banks of the mighty Detroit River in Windsor Ontario has been chosen as a filming location for 2 episodes and a 1 hour special for a new fall debut on MAVTV called Randy Scott: Chasing the Dream. Randy won Best Upcoming Blues Artist 2012 by Ameriblues.com and was signed to Steve Vai’s label, Favored Nations.
MAVTV, headquartered in Los Angeles, is a national cable television network that broadcasts to 92 million viewers. MAVTV is available on the Dish Network, Time Warner, Cablevision, Verizon, Charter, and in the coming months is expanding to include Comcast. www.mavtv.com
This is the first Reality TV series to feature behind-the-scenes in the music industry. The show is based around LA bluesman Randy Scott’s (the series’ host) live performances and guest appearances around the globe with renowned Blues stars.
MAVTV executive producer Peter Park says “of the 300+ blues festivals across North America we researched, MAVTV has chosen Windsor’s Bluesfest to film and record episodes of our networks newest production. We were particularity impressed by the various ideas submitted by Bluesfest such as segments on
Underground Railroad Museum, Buxton, ON
Fort Malden as part of a War of 1812 segment
the International Tug Across the River
artist interviews during a boat cruise along the Detroit River
A musical segment in Hiram Walker bottling plant and Walkers history
Ouellette Avenue restaurants and pubs/patio scenes
Other locales are being discussed.
Aside from filming the nationally-aired TV episodes in Windsor, MAVTV will provide 64 national advertisements promoting Bluesfest and the supporting sponsors of this project. .
Bluesfest International Windsor is the largest blues festival in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and upstate New York. The TV show and advertisements will greatly assist us in penetrating these markets more thoroughly.
