June 20, 2012 - PRLog -- A group of applicants studying at the London Business School have been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the Idea for the Transformation project, launched in 2011 by world famous Spanish chef Ferran Adria’s El Bulli Foundation

While the opportunity drew students from the London Business School, other prestigious institutions including Berkeley, Harvard, Columbia and Spain’s ESADE were in attendance. The global competition requires hopefuls to create a business proposal for the new culinary research and development centre which has be deemed to be as inventive as Adria’s cuisine, with mention of corals, sponges, and “particle architecture”
According to Adria’s on his online platform, the purpose of the event is to “encourage a different kind of thinking that is passionate and committed”, with hopes that participants will take an entrepreneurial attitude and  “come up with truly innovative and proposals that go a step further, opening up new ground and making profound changes to 21st century society".

Economist and Nobel-prize winner Joseph Stiglitz was among the panel of judges which included other respected individuals in business, academia and journalism, collectively deliberated all submitted proposals in order to announce the to three finalists.
A four-day, all inclusive trip to Barcelona is next on the schedule for the finalists who will be attending networking events alongside prominent business leaders and professors. The overall winner will be announced on the 27th of June.

El Bulli, which was situated in the Cala Montjoi village near the Costa Brava in Spain, won “World’s Best Restaurant” five times prior to its closure last year. While open, although for only six months annually, Ferran Adria’s restaurant was awarded 3 Michelin stars. The other six months of the year was time taken by Adria in order to work on new recipes.

The industry, which was evidently alarmed by the closure of Adria’s restaurant, will be anxious for the reveal of the student’s new developments and of course, for the dining experience at the event.
The new foundation, a spinoff of the El Bulli restaurant and due to open in 2014, will not be taking reservations as international diners could range from teenagers to entrepreneurial minds to master chefs. The foundation is expected to experiment with what Adria is known for; avant-garde cooking and molecular gastronomy.

The foundation is also likely to grant around 20 places for interns yearly to prospects who will work the event with the team, while the creative team will be collaborating with other functions including art, design and communications.
