Urban Flats raising funds for K9s For Warriors

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 20, 2012 - PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fl. – Urban Flats will host a fundraiser at its Ponte Vedra Beach restaurant on June 28, for K9s For Warriors, a local nonprofit organization that provides service canines to military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress as a result of conflicts and war after 9/11.
Wine with K9s For Warriors will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on June 28 at Urban Flats at 330 A1A North, Suite 208. There will be a silent auction, raffle prizes and a meet-and-greet with warrior/canine teams.

All proceeds will benefit K9s For Warriors programs. K9s For Warriors provides service dogs to more than 30 veterans a year and trains them to work together at its academy in Palm Valley.

Service canines are a medically proven recovery aid for veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, the symptoms of which include hostility, aggression, depression, suicide, paranoia, acrophobia, nightmares, panic attacks, poor coping skills, memory loss, and lack of trust. One in five of the more than 500,000 military veterans who have been disabled since Sept. 11, 2011 and the resulting conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan suffers from PTSD.
