Winning the Ultimate Neighbours Port Douglas holiday experience was a dream come true for Tannan Sands resident (Queensland)

Ann said she was looking forward to recreating the Neighbours experience during her seven-night stay at Dougie’s Backpackers Resort, which was the base for Neighbours character Kate Robinson. “This holiday will give us the opportunity to get away and relax in Port Douglas and Daintree,” she said.
The last time Ann and her husband Dave were in the region was in 1997. “We have always wanted to return to Port Douglas and have a good look around.” She said she was most looking forward to retracing the steps of Lincoln Lewis’ character Dominic, who played a Quicksilver Cruises staff member. “I love being on the water and I am especially looking forward to going to the reef, particularly in the north’s lovely climate.”
Natasha Otello from Middlesex in the UK will also visit the region with her mother in October after winning TPDD’s UK competition. The die-hard Neighbours fan said she was most excited about the outer Barrier Reef tour. “If I am feeling brave, which is not very often, I would love to do some snorkeling. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, so why not?”
TPDD executive officer Doug Ryan said the UK luxury package was put together with the assistance of Executive Retreats. “Tourism Queensland UK promoted the competition, securing UK travel agent Travelbag and the international flight component.”
He said the response to the Australian and UK tactical campaigns, was positive with over 3500 unique views to the competition page during the five-week period.
“Most visitors to the site came from Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. After entering over 82% looked at other pages including the home, things to do, accommodation, and hot deals pages.”
He said overall, the TPDD website increased visitation by over 65% compared to the same period last year. “Travelbag also recorded 1800 unique visits to their microsite, while interest in Australia grew by almost one third from January to April across the UK.”
