By: Rendezvous Hotel Over 400 tourism industry professionals attended the awards, which recognise the best suppliers to the group travel industry and are widely regarded as the most prestigious awards for the group travel sector. Judging criteria included aspects such as pre-visit information, transportation to the hotel, the standard of accommodation, trips and provision of information for group travel organisers. The eighty bedroomed hotel is owned and managed by husband and wife team, Malcolm and Karen Weaving, who bought the landmark hotel in 2004. General Manager of the Rendezvous Hotel, Amanda Casey, said, “With its bustling market, award-winning high street, waterways and castle, Skipton has much to entice visitors traveling as part of a group. As the largest hotel in Skipton, the Rendezvous provides a perfect base for groups wanting to explore the town, nearby Bronte Country and the surrounding countryside.” “We welcome hundreds of groups every year and being crowned runner up in The Group Travel Awards is testimony to the hard work and dedication of all our staff”, she added. Sarah Jeffery, Business Development Manager for Group Travel Organiser magazine who hosted the awards said, “Group Travel Award winners are voted for by organisers of group travel across the country. From the thousands of UK hotels welcoming groups, to be crowned the national runner up is a fantastic achievement - our congratulations go to the entire team at the Rendezvous Hotel.” End
