Livestock 2012 the UK’s Largest Livestock Trade Event

June 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Livestock 2012 incorporating Dairy Event, the UK’s largest livestock trade event will be staged on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 September, at the NEC in Birmingham.  The venue provides easy access for overseas visitors flying into Birmingham Airport or travelling by rail to Birmingham International, both of which are a short under-cover walk away.

The event’s organiser, the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) will be offering international visitors, with the assistance of Vine Tree Solutions (VTS) the option to pre-arrange meetings at the event, book personalised tours covering the UK livestock industry and take advantage of introductory meetings and hosting by event stewards who will guide them to appropriate exhibitors. An overseas visitor lounge will be available for refreshments and meetings.  

“Livestock 2012 which has been rebranded by RABDF to provide a one-stop shop for not only for dairy, beef and sheep farmers, but also welcomes pig and poultry producers, will continue to build on the event’s current successful format offering comprehensive technical, business and financial information for the entire livestock sector,” explains RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington.

“The NEC venue which provides the easiest international access of any global agribusiness event, offers a superb opportunity for all overseas visitors to meet with senior managers from over 480 companies from the entire supply sector, as well as finding out more about Britain’s unique livestock genetics.”

Key features of the event will include:

National All Breeds Show: The dairy sector’s premier competitive event staged over two days of judging featuring leading genetics from seven different breeds and a comprehensive range of classes covering calves, heifers and milking cows.  

New Smithfield: Developed in partnership with the Royal Smithfield Club (RSC) and featuring a series of technical presentations where farmers can learn from other farmers why their enterprises are so successful.

MilkMade: The focal point for producers and processors to find out more about milk processing, packaging facilities and cool storage technology as well as obtain advice to help with their business planning and market research.

Milking equipment: A full complement of major milking machine companies will be exhibiting the latest equipment including robotics.

Feed Science Forums: Offering practical science based advice and the latest ideas on feeding dairy, beef, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry by some of the UK’s leading animal nutritionists and technical specialists.

Farm Safety Demonstrations: Delivering key health and safety messages in practical demonstrations to farmers and those working in the industry. Farmers will be shown what to look out for with PTOs and blockages, driving ATVs, working at heights, stacking bales and handling stock.

Farm Health Planning: Seminars providing information on herd health planning, giving farmers the opportunity to put their questions to vets and animal health specialists on disease prevention and eradication.

Foot trimming: A demonstration featuring the most popular techniques and demonstrating best practice together with the benefits of using a professional foot trimmer.

Diversifarm and Renewables: Advice and information on how to create a new income stream by exploiting existing farm assets, from holiday facilities to a plethora of renewable energy sources.

Business Debates: How to add additional livestock enterprises, diversify or make a fresh start, including the benefits of farm assurance and the new professional register for dairy farmers.

All the inside trade exhibitors will be located in one large building where stands will be segregated for the benefit of visitors into colour coded product zones.

Seminars and workshops will cover animal health, nutrition and improving beef performance and efficiency, while farm safety will be featured in the outdoor working demonstrations alongside machinery and equipment.
