June 18, 2012 - PRLog -- The undefeated San Diego Flash (9 – 2 – 0) take on the Phoenix Monsoon (0 - 0 - 7) this Saturday June 23 at Del Norte High School (7pm Kick-Off) knowing that 3 points will see the club successful in its defense of their 2011 NPSL West-Southern Conference Championship.

The Flash host the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Championship weekend here in San Diego in July (26 - 28). They are keen to stay focused on the big prize of bringing a National Championship to San Diego in front of the hometown fans. The NPSL is the top developmental league in the country represented by teams in 49 cities across the U.S.

The Flash are seven points clear of nearest rivals the Santa Clarita Storm. With three games left of the regular season, a win on Saturday will see the club confirm that all important post-season appearance and a shot at the NPSL title.
Flash Head Coach, Warren Barton is keen to see his young charges reap the rewards of a great season.

“To remain undefeated at this stage of the season and potentially become conference champions with games in hand is a great reflection of the hard work, team spirit and professionalism of the San Diego Flash organization both on and off the field.

“We still have a job to do this weekend and we acknowledge that no team in this conference is easy. Our team will be focused on taking their chance to write another successful chapter in the clubs short history.

“We only beat Phoenix 1-0 when we travelled to Arizona earlier in the season. In the last game, they had a plan and turned up with a well-structured and disciplined backline. We won’t be underestimating this side and I will make sure the players are aware of this during training this week.” Barton said.

Flash CEO, Clent Alexander, was excited about the possibility of another title, but stressed there were bigger things to be won this season.

“The National Premier Soccer League Championship weekend is being hosted by us right here in San Diego at the end of July on our home field. It is our goal to be a part of this national showcase.

“With two home games left of the regular season we are encouraging soccer fans from across San Diego to come and be part of what is shaping up to be a special season. The players love playing in front of big crowds and play one of the most attractive attacking brands of soccer in the league.

“The soccer talent here in San Diego is top quality. 2 players from our club (Adrian DuBois and Sergio Valle-Ortiz) just returned from tryouts with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer. Now is a chance to see them in action and have a great family night out in the process.” Alexander said.

This weekend’s match against the Phoenix Monsoon kicks off at 7pm, Saturday June 23 at Del Norte High School, 16601 Nighthawk Lane, San Diego, CA 92127. Fans can purchase tickets online and will receive 20% off face value if booked before Saturday. Visit www.SanDiegoFlashSoccer.com for more info.
