(TIMOTCA), proclaims Autumnal Equinox “Citizen of the World Day” – Sept. 22nd. TIMOTCA invites all who are socially aware and wishes to make the earth a more peaceful home , with abundance for all, to declare they are Citizens of the World.

June 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Inspired by the words of the great philosopher, Socrates, “I am not an Athenian, nor a
Greek, but a Citizen of the World” and by the iconic lyrics of John Lennon’s,Imagine…. “Imagine all the people sharing all the world” The International Museum of
Twenty-first Century Arts, (TIMOTCA), proclaims the Autumnal Equinox “Citizen of the
World Day” – this year on September 22nd GMT. TIMOTCA invites everyone who is
socially aware and responsible and wishes to make the earth we all share a more
peaceful home , with abundance for all, to declare they are Citizens of the World.

The Tamil poet Kaniyan Poongundran wrote, "To us all towns are one, all men our
kin." Years later, political philosopher Thomas Paine would declare, "My country is the
world, all men are my brethren and my religion is to do good." Albert Einstein
described himself as a world citizen and supported the idea throughout his life.

World citizenship has been promoted by distinguished people and organizations
from Socrates to the United Nation’s Correspondence Association with the grant of
their Citizen of the World Award to notables Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Brian
Urguhart, Sir Richard Branson and Bill Clinton to name only a few.

TIMOTCA recognizes and applauds creative spirits everywhere who inspire and
spread their influence as Citizens of the World – including all artists participating in
TIMOTCA and others such as Peter Max, Itzhak Pearlman, Yo Yo Ma , Elton John
and David Arkenstone whose “Citizen of the World” album was donated by the artist
to TIMOTCA for its music library.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reported international
world travelers reached a record 980 million in 2011. TIMOTCA, believing every
traveler is potentially an "Ambassador for Peace” with the capacity to effect positive
change around the globe, joins with the International Institute For Peace Through
Tourism (IIPT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating tourism initiatives
which contribute to international cooperation, an improved quality of environment
and the preservation of heritage . Through these initiatives and its Peaceful Traveler
Credo, which everyone is encouraged to adopt, IIPT promotes responsible travel and
is working to help bring about a peaceful and sustainable world.

Proclaiming we are Citizens of the World and working for the greater good of all people is a natural extension of the reality that we all share this earth and are connected to each
other in a digital world as never before in human history. Citizens of the World are
invited to demonstrate they can make a difference offering their time to help an individual
or a cause, donating their resources to those in need, using their your talents to make the world a better place and encouraging Peace in everything they do.  TIMOTCA invites people everywhere to lend their voices and their energy in the promotion of peace and cultural understanding at this most critical time in world history by becoming a TIMOTCA Citizen of the World and celebrating Citizen of the World Day.

Founded in 1980, TIMOTCA is a non-profit organization whose goal is to foster peace
and cultural understanding through the universal language of art, bringing together
people from every walk of life in every country to share the creative spirit found
everywhere on earth. TIMOTCA is the only initiative in the world, which will include
every country, territory, colony, island group on earth. To date, over 60 countries from
Albania to Zimbabwe, representing a broad spectrum of political, economic and cultural
diversity have been visited and accepted our invitation to participate. Each country has
nominated their most esteemed living artists to represent that country in TIMOTCA and
each of the selected artists has contributed a major original work of art to TIMOTCA for
its Permanent Collection, entitled “Art Beyond Borders.” Ultimately the collection will
grow to include over 250 works of art representing every nation on earth.

Under the patronage of UNESCO, Art Beyond Borders premiered at United Nations
Headquarters and was exhibited in Paris, Lisbon and in cities across America. Within the next year Art Beyond Borders Exhibition will once again be presented at the United
Nations under the patronage of the United States Mission to the United Nations.
