“Agapao Project” To Help Gwinnett County School Counselors

June 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Everyday school counselors face significant challenges as they serve the students in their schools.  Often times they do not have access to resources to help them in their desire to aid kids.  One challenge in every school is helping children who do not have access to personal hygiene products.  Often times these students are ridiculed and/or self-conscious because they are unclean and may need help in getting items that many of us take for granted; soap, toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrush and hairbrush to name a few.

Agapao is working to help provide resources that will aid school counselors and administration in meeting this specific need by gathering materials to produce personal care bags for each school in the Gwinnett County School System.

Our goal is to provide at least five care bags for each of the 130 schools that serve the students of Gwinnett – than means gathering materials to produce 675 personal care bags by the start of the 2012-2013 school year.  It’s an ambitious goal, but we are confident that it can be accomplished.

EACH KIT IS PROVIDED IN A STURDY, REUSABLE TOTE BAG AND WILL INCLUDE:
1 Personal-size soap, Deodorant, Hand Lotion, Washcloths,  Shampoo, Hand Sanitizer, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Shampoo, Conditioner, lip balm, Hair brush or Comb and Feminine hygiene products (middle/ high kits)

To accomplish this goal we need supporters to:
1. Contribute supplies needed to assemble the care bags.  Drop-off locations will be announced soon.
2. Contribute your time to help assemble and deliver the bags.
