As part of their ongoing commitment to serving the community, Dolson Avenue Medical recently donated one thousand dollars to the YMCA of Middletown Strong Kids Campaign. Youths of today are exposed to so many negative influences that could lead them down the road to drugs, violence and crime. In fact, According to the CDC, nationwide 31.5% of students had been in a physical fight one or more times during the year, 46.3% of students had ever tried cigarette smoking, and 24.2% of students had binged on alcohol at least once in the past month. It is extremely important to combat those negative influences with positive ones. To be a positive factor in the future of our children is why Dolson Avenue Medical supports the YMCA of Middletown Strong Kids Campaign. At the YMCA of Middletown, “we believe that lasting personal and social changes can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. Made possible by generous contributions from local individuals and businesses, Strong Kids helps make our invaluable YMCA services available to all, regardless of their ability to pay.” The Doctors and staff at Dolson Avenue Medical know that the youth are our future and feel very strongly that it is imperative that they grow up to be contributing members of society. It gives kids the opportunity to benefit from the YMCA offerings, like Camp Hope, that otherwise might not have been able to. When asked why he thinks this program is so worthwhile, Dr. Jeff Spina of Dolson Avenue Medical said that “having young children myself, I believe it is important to expose them to a positive and nurturing environment that instills the fundamental principles of good decision making in life.” The Dolson Avenue Medical team is dedicated to helping provide every opportunity possible for the success of our local children through programs like the Strong Kids campaign.
