2012 Municipal Smart Grid Summit Vendor Award Winners

June 18, 2012 - PRLog -- The 2012 Municipal Smart Grid Summit (MSGS) has announced AT&T, Landis+Gyr and NISC (National Information Solutions Cooperative) as award winning vendors at the second annual MSGS held last week at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Resort & Spa in San Diego.

Forty progressive smart grid technology vendors competed for three separate awards that were voted on by one hundred public power utility executives representing well over nine million customers. These hosted utility executives spent two and a half days collaborating with top smart grid technology vendors discussing topics like: advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), demand response (DR), distribution automation (DA), analytics, smart cities, critical infrastructure protection, just a name a few.  MSGS allows the participating vendors to focus on the needs of each utility through various channels; senior level boardroom presentations, a solution showcase floor and  numerous networking & social activities.

AT&T won the 2012 MSGS Best Overall Vendor Presentation for the second consecutive time, last winning this award at the 2011 Rural Smart Grid Summit.  The top three nominated vendors for leaving the best overall impression with their entire body of work at the summit were AT&T, GE Energy and MeterSense.

NISC (National Information Solutions Cooperative) won the 2012 MSGS Vendor to Watch award.  The top three nominated vendors for being the best up-and-coming vendor with the most innovative smart grid solution were NISC, Utility Partners Of America and Grid2020.

Landis+Gyr won the 2012 MSGS Best Smart Grid Product or Solution award.  The top three nominated vendors providing the most exciting smart grid product or solution were Landis+Gyr, Cooper Power Systems and GE Energy.

The MSGS event has a unique format focused on business development that provides the utility executives multiple opportunities to interact with various vendors in a social and business friendly setting. Boardroom meetings are conducted with ten utility executives and one vendor, as well as the evening networking opportunities that are designed to promote deeper and more intimate conversations about the future direction of smart grid applications. The 2012 RSGS will be held October 28th-30th, 2012 at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California.  The 2013 MSGS will be held June 2nd -4th, 2013 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
