Emergency App for iPhone and Android May Take Top Spot on Moms' Smart Phones

There are only 20 spots for app icons on the first page of any smart phone. Every app developer wants one of those twenty places. An emergency app might be getting one of those coveted positions on the phones of millions of moms.

June 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Unless you are living in a world devoid of news and commercials, you know that there is an app for everything.  Unfortunately the fact that there are millions of apps is not always good news for app developers, as the sale of an app doesn't end the marketing.  Use of the app depends on usefulness and positioning on the phone.  Even the most useful app can get lost in the proliferation of 100's of downloads on any smart phone or tablet.

But some apps just seem to beg to be placed on page one.  Take a new app that gives instant access to virtually every resource you might need in an emergency.  The inventor claims that moms will be giving his app a top spot on their mobile devices.  Randy Kirk has a long history of introducing new products to the market, but feels that this might be his "best idea ever."

"Everyone gets into emergency situations.  Some of us are calm, cool, collected, and function with amazing skill in such circumstances.  For the rest of us, we need all the help we can get.  So this new app puts 911, police, fire, and other government telephone numbers one to two clicks away.  We call the app, MyEmergencyApp"

When you open the MyEmergencyApp, you see a display of 20 emergency service icons.  The top row is just as Kirk describes.  911, police, fire, and then an icon called "other" that currently includes 800 numbers for suicide prevention hotline, centers for disease control, and the national abuse hotline.

The bottom row has four icons you can customize.  One for your own doctors, dentists, and other medical providers, one for your emergency contacts, one for out of state contacts, and one for miscellaneous phone numbers that don't fit anywhere else.

Kirk explains the other 12 positions on MyEmergencyApp this way:  "In the middle of the app are 12 highly trusted local businesses who offer such services as locksmith, roofer, towing, and plumber.  Each of the local companies appearing here must have met our criteria as a trusted local resource.  In fact, most of these spots may not be active when folks download their app.  We are crowd sourcing to fill in the spots where we have not yet found a trusted company."

According to the website at http://www.MyEmergencyApp.com the company is looking to the public to help make the app as good as it can be.  Kirk explains:  When Google or Yelp come out with a directory, they don't have all the information yet.  They count on you to help them get the rest over time.  It is the same with MyEmergencyApp.  The difference is that Yelp and Google show every possible business.  We only show one business for each category in each zip code.  These businesses have to be highly trusted, or they don't get on MyEmergencyApp.

Because this app will be so helpful in any emergency, the company believes moms and others will give MyEmergencyApp a spot on the first page of their apps.  They even suggest the app go just to the right of the text app, so that it is easy to find in an emergency.  The bright red phone with the "e" in the middle makes it hard to miss.
