Surrounded by six acres of land, the hotel's indoor and outdoor facilities are extensive, ranging from a maze for toddlers to adventure play areas with a zip wire and climbing wall for older children. Sports facilities include tennis, a putting green and nine holes of golf, and there are indoor and outdoor pools.
Four age-banded Ofsted-registered children's clubs run daily and, for toddlers, there is an indoor soft-play centre.
Local attractions include the Eden Project, the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay, St. Ives, Padstow, the Minack Theatre and the Maritime Museum and the hotel is close to some of north Cornwall's most spectacular beaches. For the more active, there are miles of cycle trails (Camel Trail) and the outdoor activity centres at Lusty Glaze Beach and Watergate Bay, both five minutes' drive from the Sands. The hotel is also within walking distance of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay restaurant.
