Guard My Angel is a free mobile application, which provides automatic and semi-automatic notifications to assigned contacts that ensures the safety and security of people when in transit. It works by allowing users to select contacts that he/she wishes to notify in the event of an emergency or unforeseen incident. Then, before the user goes out, they set a timer for approximately how long the activity should take and as the activity approaches its end the user presses a button, turning off the timer, indicating that they are OK. In the event that the user is unable to press the all-clear button, an automatic notification is sent to the the previously identified trusted contacts containing relevant information including location so the contact could call for help or, if nearby, come to the user’s aid. Additional features allow secure notification to alert trusted contacts should someone be in an uncomfortable situation.
