INTERLOCKS / salon . spa . cosmetics offered it's clients and the general public, a way to celebrate a favorite teacher, as the school year was ending, through an online forum. "As a local business, we are cognizant of the great work being done in the area schools, and we wanted to offer a platform to recognize teachers. As the school was winding down, it seemed the perfect time to be able to offer up some well-deserved pampering," said Ginny Eramo, Owner and Creative Director of Interlocks. Eramo added, "Considering we conceptualized and executed the contest idea rather quickly, we were thrilled with the response.”
Mary-Ann Fraser was the overwhelming winner, taking the public vote by more than double her closest competitor. Fraser is a teacher at Newbury Elementary who (according to the nomination form) is retiring this year. Beth Abbott-Bishop, who nominated Fraser for the contest said: "Mrs. Fraser is like a summer breeze that has swept into the lives of so many families throughout the years, bringing laughter and wonder and joy to all that have been blessed enough to know her". Fraser will take the top prize, a $250 gift certificate to Interlocks.
The G.W. Brown Early Elementary School of Newburyport was well represented as two of their kindergarten teachers, Robin O'Malley and Amy Lee won 2nd and 3rd place prizes. O'Malley will receive an Interlocks gift certificate for $100 and Lee will receive one for $50.
Teacher nominations were collected through both the Interlocks facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/
Interlocks looks forward to welcoming the winners over the summer and is happy to be able to provide some recognition for their challenging and important careers.
