Follow on Google News | Celebrating a Tunkhannock week-endTunkhannock PA celebrates 4th Friday and the 31 annual Founder's Day June 22 and 23.
By: tunkhannock Business and Professional Association Joining the 4th Friday celebration for the first time will be the Shadowbrook Inn and Resort with a kick-off to Founder’s Day. The event will feature “Twist of Fate” playing live from 7 – 11 p.m. as well as a Live Rock 107 remote. Nimble Hill continues their monthly participation with Rosalyn James performing between 6 & 8 p.m. Photographer Bre Reynolds will also display her art. Patrick Robinson and KITSON and Company, at Pen Corners will have live entertainment by Matt Bennick and Bill Coleman of Matt Bennick and the Blues Mine. They will also be featuring Americana from the 1900’s in addition to their gallery art. They are also featuring exclusively by Kitson and Co., handcrafted leather Journals from Florence, Deluxe Art Puzzles from Vienna and Italy and also the famous Paitik playing cards that cover different art, history and collectible themes, all made in Austria. According to Mr. Robinson, the company is continuing to compile collecting stories from area residents. Story collector Bill Goodman will be on hand to interview collectors sharing their unique stories and finds. Collectors are encouraged to bring a treasure and the story behind it! Refreshments will also be available. Paradise will have author Maxine Owen signing her two books, MY REMEMBRANCE & CAMERON'S JOURNEY from 6-8 PM. Maxine is a local author who wrote about her earlier life as an abused child in the book MY REMEMBRANCE. Her other book, CAMERON'S JOURNEY, is about her autistic son and their lives with a special needs child. The Dietrich Theater will feature a Decorative Painting Demonstration from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Tunkhannock Area Decorative Painters. What would summer be without a beach party? EBB’s Candy Bar has all the necessary items for a beach party and will give away free mini beach balls to the first 100 visitors. There will be iced tea, lemonade and ice treats along with an open mike at 8 p.m. with music and poetry. Beads and Baubles will feature the band “man fuel” along with cookies and 20% off all regularly priced sandals. Popcorn and More is offering more this month with the introduction of soft ice cream. Friends Art and Gifts will feature woodworker Norm Werkheiser. They will also be offering some sales and specials. The Spice Shoppe will be featuring and demonstrating Zulugrass, handcrafted, eco-fashion jewelry from Kenya. Zulugrass is fun to wear and helps support the women and families of the Maasai tribe. Refreshments will be available at Mary-Go-Round while B&R Distributors will offer a beer sampling. The Tioga Bistro will be serving the regular bistro menu with soups and specials to be announced.
