Cook Teams To Compete In Inaugural Barbeque Contest Sanctioned By Kansas City Barbeque Society In Historic Downtown Apex June 22-23
 
June 15, 2012 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. – The Kroger Co. , (http://www.kroger.com/), the nation’s largest traditional grocery retailer with 16 stores throughout the Triangle, has announced their sponsorship of the 2012 inaugural Peak City Pig Fest, a professional barbeque competition sponsored by the Apex Rotary Club and sanctioned by Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), the nation’s leading barbeque sanctioning body. The event will take place on Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23 in Historic Downtown Apex on N. Salem Street. A professional competition, 30 cook teams will compete in four specific categories: chicken, ribs, pork and beef, all cooked on only charcoal or wood. KCBS events are renowned in the food world, appearing on national programs including the Food Network and BBQ Pitmasters. A new event for the Triangle, Peak City Pig Fest will be judged by Certified Barbecue Judges (CBJ) by KCBS rulings, with winners being awarded cash prizes. Admission to the Peak City Pig Fest is free for all attendees and will include food, merchandise vendors and live entertainment.
