June 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Albion, MI – Narconon Freedom Center of Michigan, an Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation facility, is sponsoring the Friends of Narconon’s Drug Education Kits for teachers in Michigan schools.  The center has a trained Drug Education Lecturer who travels to schools delivering the popular and highly effective Narconon Drug Education talks, however, Michigan has 4,078 schools.  Sponsoring the drug education kits helps the center reach more students quicker.

The Friends of Narconon Drug Education program is designed to provide young people with the true and correct educational materials about drugs so they can make up their own minds to stay away from them.

The kit contains a booklet of lesson plans for teachers and four DVDs about drugs.  The DVD series covers such topics as the truth about drugs, including what is a drug is, Xtasy and Marijuana.

The students fill out surveys after they watch the videos. Here are a few of answers from 9th Graders: “I learned that you don’t have to do Xtasy for a long time to OD.”  “It can help me stay away from drugs now that I know all that consequences.” “I hardly knew anything about Xtasy before the videos.”  “My thoughts changed after watching the video.  I never want to do X again or let any of my friends do it either.”

An independent study of the Narconon Drug Education Program conducted by FASE (Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education) in Los Angeles concluded: "Changes in those who had indicated that they might use drugs were quite pronounced. Responses clearly indicated a heightened awareness of the adverse effects caused by drug abuse. Comments indicating that they would now never use drugs were common."

“Our center is full of those addicted to alcohol and drugs who are working very hard to recover their sobriety.  We also want to help educate kids so they never go down this road. With 4,078 schools in Michigan, it’s a big job.  Anyone interested in sponsoring Drug Education in Michigan schools is welcome to contact us,” says Nicholas Thiel, Senior Director of Expansion at Narconon Freedom Center.
