CSA has always been an environmentally friendly company by employing various strategies such as, instituting a paperless environment, e-cycling partnerships, purchasing of recycled supplies, and investing in point-to-point video teleconferencing equipment, but they have decided to take it up a notch by launching a corporate wide initiative supported by some of its environmentally conscious employees.
CSA Moves Towards a Greener Workplace
Recently CSA has been increasing its reach and efforts to further reduce its energy usage. CSA’s San Diego location has been an Energy Star Rated Building, with a rating of 84, since 2010. To complement the building’s energy saving investments, CSA has assisted with additional energy techniques, such as the use of daytime cleaning services. These services eliminate lighting, heating, cooling and ventilating while the building is unoccupied. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, buildings consume 39 percent of the primary energy in the United States, out of which, on average, 18 percent is from the lighting system.
In May, CSA employee, Joseph Giguere received his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate credential. The LEED Green Associate credential is for professionals who demonstrate green building expertise in non-technical fields. LEED certification is a recognized standard measurement of building sustainability. CSA will leverage Mr. Giguere’s skill set, as the leader of CSA’s Sustainability Group. This group is comprised of dedicated individuals who will ensure that CSA stays on the forefront of sustainability in order to maximize the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit.
