June 14, 2012 - PRLog -- PacketLight Networks developed the Industry’s first standards-based, 1RU  Metro and Long Haul 100G Muxponder/Transponder. The PL-1000GM/GT is an OIF standards based 1RU 100G platform  that aggregates Multirate Multiprotocol 10G and 40G services (such as 10G/40G Eth, 8G/10G FC and OC192/STM64, OTU2/OTU3)  in a single 100G OTU4 uplink trunk.

PacketLight offers two flavors of 100G solution:
1)   100G Muxponder for metro networks that reach up to 480km.
2)   100G Muxponder/ Transponder based on industry standard OIF coherent Transponder that can reach up to 2,500km for ultra-long-haul networks.

Both solutions offer multirate transport capability and a smooth transition from 10G/40G to 100G client interfaces. Both solutions can operate over existing 10G networks and seamlessly increase their capacity to 100G network.

Unlike other 100G solutions, PacketLight integrates up to two optical amplifiers, Mux/Demux and DCM modules if needed in the same 1U chassis offering the smallest and the most integrated 100G transport solution in the industry.

The PL-1000GM/GT seamlessly integrates with PacketLight’s PL-2000 and PL-1000TN to deliver

carrier-grade high-end OTN network solutions capable of serving multiple applications and protocols such as data, storage, TDM, ATM and video networks.

PL-1000GM/GT offers GFEC, the standard based G.709 100G Forward Error Correction (FEC). Additionally, PL-1000GM/GT can be managed remotely via either In-band or Out-band Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC).

PacketLight’s easy to use web based management tool as well as PacketLight’s LightWatch™ NMS/EMS systems, allows comprehensive line and service performance monitoring and easy network management

"100G technology has reached the maturity level where it has been standardized by the optical community. Therefore, today’s standards based optical infrastructure offers no limitations and overcomes the interoperability issues. At PacketLight, we identified two market segments which will adopt the 100G technology: Metro networks and Carrier long-haul. These segments have different requirements and challenges. We built solutions addressing both of the segment needs within the same footprint and under common NMS platform" stated Koby Reshef, PacketLight’s CEO.
