PRLog (Press Release) -
Jun. 13, 2012 - Children's book author of the Stanley & Norman series, Frank Monahan, has been visiting elementary schools across the country ever since the first Stanley and Norman book was released in 2008. The school visits consist of assemblies presented by Mr. Monahan, where he reads the books to the children; explaining the life lessons each book teaches, which include listening to your parents, learning how to make friends, and the importance of diet and exercise. Mr. Monahan also shares his writing and editing process with the children and encourages them to write their own stories. As a treat to the children, at the end of the assemblies, Mr. Monahan has a slide-show of puppy pictures and stories of the real Stanley and Norman. Most schools also receive a visit from the real Stanley and Norman right after the assemblies.
Mr. Monahan’s school visits are free to schools and costs associated with the visits have been paid with the author's pre-sales of his books. However, this limits the number of schools that the author is able to visit every year.
On June 7th, the author started a project on kickstarter.com, with the goals of being able to fund more school visits, including more Title I schools (schools with a large low-income student population) in the program.
The project’s goal of raising $7,500 by July 7th is expected to fund over 50 school visits over the 2012/2013 school year.
Kickstarter is an interactive website where contributors can help fund projects, and often earn fun rewards for doing so. More information about the project can be found at
