June 13, 2012 - PRLog -- (BOISE, Idaho) -- J.L. Boyd Co. is merging its operations with the larger Thornton Oliver Keller Commercial Real Estate in June.

Both brokerages are based in Boise. Jim Boyd, president and broker with J.L. Boyd Co., is becoming a partner in Thornton Oliver Keller. Brokerage assistant Debra Walters and property manager Jeff Shaffer also will move from the former J.L. Boyd Co. to TOK.

The merger gives TOK access to Boyd’s experience and client base while freeing Boyd of administrative duties associated with operating a business, the parties said.
Boyd started his commercial real estate career in Boise in 1978 with White-Leasure, and formed J.L. Boyd Co. in 1994. He markets industrial and commercial investment properties.

“He’s got a very good group of clients who are loyal to him,” said Michael Ballantyne, TOK managing partner. “He does very, very well.”
There is virtually no overlap in the client bases of J.L. Boyd Co. and Thornton Oliver Keller, Ballantyne said.

Joining a larger firm also should provide some advantages to J.L. Boyd Co. clients on the sales and leasing side, he said. The J.L. Boyd Co. office at 1010 S. Allante Place will close, he said. Some of the remaining five staff members have lined up new jobs, an employee said May 29.

Thornton Oliver Keller is not buying J.L. Boyd Co. The value that Boyd built in J.L. Boyd Co. is being used by Boyd to buy into TOK, the companies said.
