“After sponsoring the highly successful Reason Rally in March, we were inspired to host a secular event of our own,” said Flash Kellish, Treasurer of the NAP and Event Coordinator of NAPCON2012. “We have several artists and amazing speakers who have already committed to performing at the event.”
Confirmed NAPCON2012 speakers include NAP President Troy Boyle, as well as several prominent figures from the secular community. These include atheist video blogger and activist Aron Ra, authors Darrel Ray and David Rosman, video blogger and comedian Dusty Smith and journalist Jamila Bey. Confirmed musical artists include Shelly Segal, Bizzy Gruntry, Noel Walsh Band and Shannon Denbow. Rap artist Greydon Square will also be performing and speaking at the event.
“By hosting this historic two-day event, we hope to politically mobilize the atheist demographic while also celebrating secular solidarity through ideas and music,” said James Klawon, Vice President of Operations at the NAP and Event Coordinator of NAPCON2012. “In today’s political climate where religion has increasingly been mixed with politics, we feel it is more important than ever to bring reason and logic back to our government.”
On the day of the convention, attendees may choose to come and go as they visit a variety of secular-friendly vendors and exhibitors, listen to the speakers and attend the concert. Tickets for the concert start at $20, while the convention and speakers are free and open to the public. Tables are still available for sponsors, vendors and exhibitors.
