FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 12, 2012 - If you are Caring for an elderly person you face many challenges. One of those challenges might include helping that person lose some weight. This might not be an easy task as that person might be accustomed to eating particular foods. After eating a certain way for so many years-old habits are hard to break. Keeping those calories down is essential in losing weight adds Frank Derosky.  Eating a sensible meal between 300-500 calories and then eating a piece of fruit afterwards can make your stomach feel full but not bloated. Another way to help the person you’re caring fore lose weight is to incorporate small meals throughout the day like healthy snacks. If you are caring for an obese person it’s important to get them moving at some point throughout the day so they don’t become dependent on a wheelchair adds Frank. The important thing is to get that heart rate going. Eating right won’t do any good if your golden aged friend sits in a wheel chair all day. Walking is great exercise adds Frank Derosky-and any kind of walking is better than sitting around all day. Even if it’s walking around the house; that’s better than no exercising at all. If the weather is nice then perhaps a walk to a park would be nice. If you are caring for an elderly woman, perhaps she would like to do dome window shopping a t a nearby mall. Most women like to shop, but don’t make assumptions-you’re lady might not want to go to a mall or window shop at all. Caring for the elderly means making sure they are eating nutritious meals and watching their calories. While some elderly may need to lose weight, there are those who might need to gain some weight. Every person is different and that means their needs will be unique. What works for one person may not work for another-that’s what makes each of us special. The food we eat can make a big difference in our overall health. Watching what we place into out mouths will make a difference later on in life. But it’s never too late to start eating right. Even if the person we are caring for did not have healthy eating habits that can be changed with your patience and guidance. Take the time to plan healthy meals and if your elderly person is able, include them in the planning of their meals. Including your elderly friend (or parent) will keep them in the loop of life and make them feel like they are still a part of the decision making. This is important for the elderly persons self esteem. As a person gets older he/she needs to feel like their lives areas normal as possible.
