Musicians from Shannon and surrounding areas will gather at The Leisure Centre to showcase a wide range of musical talent varying from contemporary rock, folk and traditional to hip-hop, beat-boxing and dub-step music.
“When I saw ‘Love: Live Music’ advertised, I had no hesitation in registering the Leisure Centre as a venue,” explained Karl Fogarty, Manager of The Leisure Centre.
“Although this event is slightly different to the usual activities of the Leisure Centre, it is compatible with our ethos as a focal point for the local community. It is a great opportunity for young people to demonstrate their talents and entertain the community,” he explained.
Mr. Fogarty added: “The Centre is always pleased to encourage and support community events and while this is slightly different from the usual activity it is a very welcome and innovative initiative which we are delighted to promote and assist.”
Welcoming the opportunity to be involved, Thomas O'Hara of Clare Youth Service stated: “This event provides an excellent opportunity for young musicians, and the Shannon Music Project is delighted to be able to assist with the provision of Stage and Sound equipment for the event”.
Entry to International Music Day at Shannon Leisure Centre is free. Performing artists will include Bethany Cassidy, Princess & Niamh, Carpe Diem, LOC, Tom Freeman, Lobster Johnson, Risen and many more. Doors open from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
