CHICAGO, IL, October 2012 – Plus Fashion Week Chicago is partnering with Compass to Care Childhood Cancer Foundation in an effort to provide awareness and recognition on what Compass to Care stands for and is committed to.
Compass to Care is dedicated to scheduling and paying for the travel arrangements families require to seek the best cancer treatment for their child. Via the generosity of its donors, the company aims to eliminate the financial burden of childhood cancer-related travel, remove the stress of planning a trip and traveling with a child who is ill, giving each family member hope for their child’s cancer cure.
Michelle, Founder and owner of Compass to Care, has such a passion for children with cancer because she herself is a childhood cancer survivor. Knowing the emotional and financial struggles her parents faced while traveling to get her the best care inspired Michelle to create this wonderful organization.
“So many amazing organizations exist to help children during their cancer journeys, and we join their efforts by solely focusing on the extraordinary challenges that come with traveling for a child’s cancer treatment,” Michelle said.
Before deciding to dedicate her life to Compass to Care full-time, Michelle had a successful career in the healthcare environment as a PET technologist at both Emory Healthcare in Atlanta and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In her most recent position, she served as the vice president of marketing for IBA Molecular, a leading provider of radiopharmaceuticals for oncology imaging. Michelle now brings her knowledge and proven success in effective business planning, brand and market awareness and process and procedure development to Compass to Care.
“We are so honored to have been chosen by Plus Fashion Week Chicago to be a charity partner,” Michelle said. “We feel that this is an amazing opportunity for us to raise awareness about the challenges children with cancer and their families face when required to travel for treatment. The founders of Plus Fashion Week Chicago have a compassionate focus in both highlighting the beauty of women, all while generously supporting charitable organizations that are working to make a difference in the community.”
