Bud Clayton is pleased to present the first ever pop-up art show in the Abilene area with a solo art exhibition taking place over 2 days, July 6th & 7th 2012 at Callahan Hall Art and Event Center located at 209 South 1st Street in Clyde, Texas next door to acclaimed restaurant Bonterra Blu.
Friday, July 6th, a preview showing will open at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 7th, a reception will begin at 3pm. Light bites will be provided by Bonterra Blu’s Chef Joel Trueblood.
The exhibition features Clayton’s latest works on wood. Clayton’
s paintings are intended to represent the passage of time, age and knowledge. Clayton's work often concerns itself with textures found in everyday life such as the physical distress on concrete, fences, rusted metal and deteriorating painted surfaces. Recently returning from a trip of many cities in West Texas, his inspiration came from the interaction of urban human development and nature. Bud Clayton is an abstract artist whose recent visit to Donald Judd’s Chinati Foundation enthralled his imagination with the rawness of the environment meeting the modern art in a beautiful conjunction. Clayton communicates this in his latest body of work.
The exhibition hones in on an art concept sweeping the nation's larger metropolitan areas, that of a Pop-Up Exhibition or Pop-Up Gallery Show. The acknowledgment of a physical lack of galleries, or otherwise booked galleries and the artist’s approach to a “do-it-yourself”
mentality in gaining exposure and exhibiting works to the public. This will be the first exhibition of its kind in the Abilene and Big Country area.
Bud Clayton is an active member of Art Professionals of Texas.
