INTERVIEW WITH DeVON FRANKLIN
DR. SANDY: What has inspired your works? Produced by Faith, Movie Selections, etc.?
DeVON FRANKLIN: Well, I want to help people and let them understand that they are good enough for success. I am inspired through the power of faith. In my book Produced by Faith I highlight the secret of success; pointing people to the best solution which is God. If you embrace God, that’s purpose. In your heart you have to know its working.
DR. SANDY: Do you have a favorite musical artist? If so, who and why?
DeVON FRANKLIN: [He answered this rather quickly and honestly] Kirk Franklin is my favorite musical artist. I feel he has the most incredible music. His music is very contemporary and relevant. I have all his albums. I am truly a BIG fan.
DR. SANDY: What’s your favorite past time?
DeVON FRANKLIN: My favorite past time is definitely going to the movies. [Of course coming from a movie producer, Right Answer? Lol]; DR. SANDY: What’s your favorite movie? The Color Purple [Both Laughing with the famous quote “You told Harpo to beat me.”] Then, we got serious…The Color Purple had powerful stories of faith. He likes The Color Purple because it shows us of two sisters where their love would never tear them apart. In the end, no matter what, love always wins.
DR. SANDY: What would you call your style of ministry?
DeVON FRANKLIN: My style of ministry is in real time and relevant. I am addressing the issues that people are facing right now. This generation can digest when I preacher and incorporate in their daily lives.
DR. SANDY: WHEN did you start your Ministry? How long have you been in your Ministry?
DeVON FRANKLIN: [With a sigh of excitement] I don’t have my own ministry where I oversee a congregation. However, I preached my first sermon at the tender age of 15. I didn’t truly embrace my calling (preaching gift) until right at the end of college. I am still growing in ministering and adventuring to more places to speak especially with my book “Produced By Faith”. It was a long process.
DR. SANDY: WHERE do you want to go with your Ministry and your gift?
DeVON FRANKLIN: As far as God has designed to take me. Regardless of my circumstances I want to go where he leads me. My hope is to build a message to many people hurting. I feel a need to help people. I want to help those that need to live better and don’t know how to do it. This is my Ministry.
DR. SANDY: Is there ever a time you felt like giving up?
DeVON FRANKLIN: Oh yes, as much as we want to have faith in everything, there has been times I felt like giving up. Sometimes the emotions get the best of us. I try to hide it quietly on the inside. It is very difficult to fit in a box. I had a dream of becoming an Executive after college but instead I was working for years as an assistant to an Executive. I felt like my dreams were fading away. I knew I had to take a step of faith; A leap of Faith. Pressing for 7 years it seemed hard but at the end of the day, I go back to my faith. I have to stay focus on the bigger picture. I keep excellence in everything I do. I trust God will work all those things out in the end.
DR. SANDY: What can you share with other to encourage them?
DeVON FRANKLIN: Delays are not always denial. For Example, some movies I want to work on are not ready yet. I have to wait until they are ready for finalization. Understand don’t give up on God. He loves us so much. He prepares you for the next level which is production. First, you need to relax. He is directing your story. Change your perspective. Have a Prayer partner or Friend who can help lift you up in low times. We need encouragement on the way to navigate those difficult times.
DR. SANDY: What’s your ultimate purpose to your Ministry Journey?
DeVON FRANKLIN: My Ultimate purpose to my Ministry Journey is 1) Be an example of divine power of faith 2) Help the most people I can 3) Let people understand their purpose in life – don’t complain and your dreams will come true. 4) Bring hope - A moment of inspiration and hope….in another light…

Overall, I completely enjoyed interviewing someone with such great integrity and substance. It wasn’t all about him. Although he did run 13 minutes late for the interview [and we are on different time zones], I excused him with the quality 2 hours we spent talking about his God centered life and how he knows his purpose. If you haven’t gone to purchase the book, what are you waiting for? You will surely be inspired and blessed especially if you are dreaming and longing for God to make a change in your destination. See you next time. Stay blessed!
