Ford Welcomes International Fellows of the 92nd Street Y

• Nineteen philanthropic leaders from more than 10 emerging countries visit Detroit • Ford Motor Company International Fellowship Program enters twelfth year • Philanthropic leaders in 58 countries have benefited from the program
 
June 10, 2012 - PRLog -- DEARBORN, Mich., June 10, 2012 – Demonstrating its commitment to supporting nonprofits around the globe, Ford Motor Company is sponsoring the International Fellowship Program of the 92nd Street Y in New York City for the twelfth year in a row. The program promotes best practices and networking for emerging philanthropic leaders through an intensive immersion experience designed to address the challenges of community building. Nineteen Ford Fellows representing Haiti, India, Ecuador, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and other countries are participating in this year’s program.

The 2012 Ford Fellows will visit Southeast Michigan June 17-18 as part of their three-week residency. They will meet with Ford leaders, visit the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy for a question-and-answer session with students, and tour the Rouge Factory plant, the hub of American automotive innovation, manufacturing and sustainability.  

“We are excited to host this amazing group of global leaders,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund. “Our partnership with the 92nd Street Y gives us a unique opportunity to share insights and exchange ideas that can result in positive efforts to improve communities all over the world.”

In addition to their Detroit visit, the Fellows participate in a rigorous academic and community-based curriculum in New York City focused on nonprofit management, leadership and strategic thinking. So far 233 people from 58 countries have participated in the program.
