While the current job market has been difficult for many professionals, employment in the healthcare fields has been increasing for the last several years. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment numbers of the medical office jobs associated with certification as a health information technician are growing at a rate of 21 percent, which is listed in the Occupational Outlook Handbook as being “faster than average” compared to the growth rates of other career fields. This job growth does not provide a guarantee that professionals certified in health information will find jobs in the field right away, but with completion of the associate’s degree from IntelliTec College, they will have a head start toward a successful future career.
