The German auto parts maker has acquired 97 acres in Bidadi for construction of the new factory and would invest nearly Rs 600 crore for development of the facility in both phases, noted the report.
As Bosch has grown to full capacity and cannot accommodate further expansion, it has decided to shift to Bidadi to cater to rapidly growing business needs, according to a company statement. Besides a significantly larger area, relocation to the developing industrial area in Bidadi will result in availability of better infrastructure support and transport facilities, it said.
Apparently, Bosch's move follows the Karnataka Government request to shift manufacturing to new and futuristic industrial belts to de-congest the locality, the statement said. Shifting in phase I involves plant construction from 2012 to 2013. Production would begin by the first quarter of 2014 with transfer of some 1,000 employees. Phase I will see production of Common Rail Pump, Common Rail and Glow plugs, it said. Construction in Phase II would take place from 2015 to 2016, while production of Inline Pumps, Elements, Delivery Valves, Conventional and PF Pumps will begin by the first quarter of 2017.
Bosch will also assist shifting employees to new location in both phases with various forms of support in accordance with its policy and local laws, the statement said. For a full report, visit http://automotivehorizon.sulekha.com/
