Mirador and SQLC Become First to Implement Masterpiece Living Initiative

June 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Mirador, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit senior living community sponsored by Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), is the first retirement community in the state to offer Masterpiece Living®, an initiative to expand and maximize health, vitality and independence for their residents.

A launch celebration with residents, guests and staff at Mirador featured Dr. David Gobble, Director Emeritus of Masterpiece Living® and former Director and Professor of Ball State’s Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology, who spoke on aging successfully.  Dr. Gobble has been recognized by the National Wellness Institute as one of the top 100 wellness experts in the world.  He shared the Masterpiece Living® philosophy and the many success stories from senior living communities throughout the country.

“Launching Masterpiece Living® has brought the entire community together for one great cause,” said Cindy Waldron, executive director of Mirador.  “The week was full of exciting events that recognized the four key concepts of the Masterpiece Living® initiative, which are social engagement, physical health, intellectual stimulation and spiritual fulfillment.”

SQLC will also introduce Masterpiece Living® at the sister communities of Mirador – Edgemere in Dallas, The Buckingham in Houston, Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin and The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth in June.

Founded in 1999 by Larry Landry, the goal of Masterpiece Living® is to increase the overall health and involvement of a community’s population.  As a part of the partnership with Mirador, Masterpiece Living® will provide training programs and tools for evaluating and tracking residents’ and community progress including health assessment resources from the Mayo Clinic.
