PRLog - June 8, 2012 - LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. -- Alli attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and began her career in fashion, working for designer Nicole Miller in New York City in 1994. After securing the licensing rights for Nicole Miller in Florida with her brother Michael Landau, Alli returned to her hometown of Boca Raton to open her own Nicole Miller boutiques there and in Miami. The stores were a huge success and among the highest grossing in the nation. In 1996 they were sold to a private investor and Alli left fashion retailing to pursue her true passion – hairstyling.
Webb, Alli 182
Alli trained under the expert tutelage of John Peters and Toni & Guy to become a professional hairstylist. She spent the next several years honing her skills working for the late, great John Sahag. The self-proclaimed “curly girl” was always in search of a quality coiffeur for her own hair but was unimpressed by the available options.
After leaving the professional hair workforce in 2005 to start a family, Alli decided to find a way to continue the creative side of hairstyling at a “new mom” pace. Offering in-home weekly blowout services for friends, her “side business” quickly grew into more than a part-time gig. The business exploded with referrals from her loyal clients, leading Alli to the natural decision to open a physical “blow dry bar” location.
Alli opened her first Drybar in February 2010. The first of its kind in Los Angeles, it has since expanded to an additional 13 locations in Southern California, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, and NYC. Expansion plans for 2011 include Manhattan Beach, NYC, and Washington, D.C.
Alli has been featured on the Allure, InStyle, Access Hollywood, Goop, Vogue Daily, and Wall Street Journal Web sites. She has also been featured in magazines, including Angeleno, Baby Style, Behindthechair.com on paper, Marie Claire, OK!, Parents, Riviera, Us Weekly, 944, and Good Housekeeping, as well as the Los Angeles Times and Bravo’s hit TV reality show Bethenny Ever After.
