RateTea enables users to search for fair trade certified teas, and allows users to browse the site and filter search results for any types of tea by their fair trade status. For example, users can browse green teas, and then filter that search to display only fair trade certified green teas. The same feature can be used to filter teas originating from a particular company, or teas produced in a certain region, as RateTea's database is indexed by brand, style (type of tea), and region.

Another resource that RateTea has to offer is a listing of tea companies which offer fair trade teas in their catalogue. This listing currently includes 46 brands, which includes both companies like Rishi Tea and Arbor Teas, with a focus on fair trade products, as well as companies that carry a few fair trade offerings among their broader catalog.
The listings include both US-based companies, selling teas certified by Fair Trade USA (Formerly TransFair USA), as well as companies in other regions of the world, that use various other certifying organizations, like FLO (Fairtrade International)
