Follow on Google News | Martin County Sheriff candidate David Dees Picks Up Important EndorsementIn a tight race for Sheriff, Jackson drops out of Sherif's Race to Support candidate David Dees after a write-in candidate closed the voting to only registered Republicans. The county is largely Republican, but Democrats will be locked out.
By: BB Jones Communications, Inc., Stuart, FL “I strongly believe that David Dees has the credentials, integrity and temperament to lead the Sheriff’s Office. I urge all of my supporters to support David Dees because he is the best choice without reservation,” Due to the recent action of Republican Trent Wetherald as a write-in candidate, the voting will now be restricted to Republicans. His action will block any Democrat or independent voter’s right to vote. Rather than the 98,182 registered voters of Martin County being able to vote, only registered Republicans can vote. Jackson urged all Democrats and non-party affiliated voters to change their party affiliation to Republican before July 16 so they can vote in the August 14 primary. David Dees said,” In the past year I have watched Linda Jackson campaign and she has worked hard and has been focused on the safety of our community and improving the Sheriff’s Department. I am truly honored to receive her endorsement and I hope to win the support and endorsement of her followers.” Any registered Democrats can easily change their party affiliation before the primary. Voter registration forms are available at www.martinvotes.com or at the Supervisor of Elections office at 135 SE Martin Luther King Blvd in Stuart. The phone number is 288-5627.
