PRLog -- Local businessman Howard Kaplan accepts an award for his outstanding efforts in educating youths on the harmful effects of drugs with Dr. Jay Spina of Dolson Avenue Medical. Mr. Kaplan feels it is imperative to educate kids on the harmful effects of drugs. Each year, almost 3,000 teenagers die in alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes. An additional 1,400 teenagers die annually from drug abuse. Mr. Kaplan feels somebody has got to do something to help educate the children of today who the future depends upon. Increasing the awareness of the youth on the harmful effects of drugs is a must. He goes on to say that drugs are all over- schools, television, and movies. Everywhere you look it seems to be cool and OK to do drugs until someone loses their life. How many unnecessary deaths do we need before this pattern stops? We all get used to it as being normal. It is not normal to have a sector of society using drugs to escape reality. Mr. Kaplan adds, “this is why I feel it is important to get the message out that is or not glamorous or the cool thing to do. “
