AlphaOne in association with Stalwarts High School organised a Flash Mob of school kids on June 03, 2012 at the Central Atrium as over 100 students in the age-group of 6-12 years danced with enthusiasm to the theme of ‘Save the Earth’. AlphaOne wholeheartedly supported the kids through ‘Be The Change Club’, by providing them all the facilities to make it a happy and memorable experience. The Kids used slogans, had ‘Be The Change Club’ banners and placards during the dance followed by the individual message. To commemorate World Environment Day on June 05, 2012, AlphaOne, the theatre group, Sai Arts and the students of Stalwarts High School will perform a special skit on environment issues on June 05 at AlphaOne.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, June 05, 2012, AlphaOne, along with the NGO, Voice of Amritsar (VOA) will also carry out their ongoing eco-initiative, ‘Let’s Make Amritsar Sparkling’, around Lawrence Road area. All along the route, there will be volunteers standing with placards at different places distributing leaflets before and during the cleanliness drive to increase awareness and wholesome participation by citizens. The initiative also aims to raise awareness of the importance of healthy and green environment among children and parents.

Dr. Prodipta Sen, Executive Director & Head of Retail, Alpha G:Corp shares his objectives for this exercise, “It is our responsibility to help create awareness about sustainable and healthy living in Amritsar with the goal of making it a model city in terms of superior hygiene and civic amenities. We have been fortunate to have the support from the Municipal Corporation and volunteers in our ‘Let’s Make Amritsar Sparkling’ eco-initiative that took off last year. This month the cleaning activities will take place on the World Environment Day and we expect public participation to grow with each drive.”

The World Environment Day is observed in over 100 countries and gathers universal focus on the environment and the lifestyle choices that people make towards sustainability. It is hosted every year by a different country with a special theme and is commemorated with an international exposition on June 5th. This day is truly a people's day, as it offers the chance for everyone, young and old, with their community, families and close friends, to show that they care for the planet.

AlphaOne as a destination point will remain involved with various initiatives that qualitatively and quantitatively contribute to the betterment of societal welfare. For the World Environment Day, activities such as tree planting, cleaning campaigns, green concerts, colourful street rallies and painting competitions are organized with the focus being the environment and its importance so that proper awareness is augmented.
