Advantages of the new version include:
1. The QC 080000:2012 not only includes requirements on restricting hazardous substances in products, it also includes management requirements on working with hazardous substances. These management requirements will enable an organization to put in place processes to accommodate other hazardous substances directives and regulations other than RoHS.
2. Better alignment and consistency with ISO 9001:2008 in terms of terminology and wordings to facilitate an organization’
3. Removal of ambiguity and clarification of intention of some requirements in the 2005 version.
IECQ has also released a transition plan to facilitate certified organizations to transit to the 2012 version.

ABOUT IECQ HSPM QC 080000
The IECQ HSPM QC 080000 was first published by IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) in November 2005 to response to the industrial demand of having a recognized international specification for hazardous substances process management (HSPM). QC 080000 defines the requirements of an organization for establishing processes to identify and control the introduction of hazardous substances into its products.
SGS was one of the earliest certification bodies to be qualified to offer IECQ HSPM QC 080000 certification and training services. SGS is also accredited by RABQSA, the world’s largest competency-based personnel qualification body, for its IECQ HSPM courses.
