U.S. Air Force Vet Celebrates 2nd Anniversary of Ownership of AAMCO Transmissions Car Care Center

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 6, 2012 - In 2010, during recession-deep economic times, David Stickler of Wallingford, Connecticut opened an AAMCO Transmissions Total Car Care franchise at 199 Chase Avenue in Waterbury, Connecticut. “My wife supported me 100%, and together we took a leap of faith. It was an extremely challenging economic time, and we had difficulty getting financial backing, but in May 2010 I realized my long-time desire to own a car repair shop of my own.” With much gratitude, Stickler spoke highly of the assistance he received in securing a Financial Startup Loan from Savings Bank of Danbury in Wolcott to establish his AAMCO Transmissions shop at 199 Chase Avenue in Waterbury. “My wife Sandy and I are most grateful to Megan Charette, the branch manager and banking officer at the Savings Bank of Danbury for believing in our dream.”

A U.S. Air Force Senior Airman and vehicle mechanic for two years in Aviano, Italy followed by two years at McGuire Air Force base in New Jersey from 1995 to 1999, Stickler returned to civilian life to work as a mechanic in dealerships along Connecticut’s shoreline for a several years. In July 2008 he graduated from the University of Phoenix with a bachelor’s degree in business management.

“Opening a business of any kind in 2010 during extremely difficulty economic times was very very challenging. While I did consider opening a shop of my own, I knew the strength behind national branding,” explained Stickler. “If a driver gets service at our AAMCO station here in Waterbury and travels out of the area, he or she knows that they can drive into any AAMCO station anywhere in the U.S. and get comparable service and care. Records on their cars’ service history are also instantly available to any AAMCO shop nationwide.” Stickler had looked at other auto franchises and determined that he wanted to offer the best service and standards of care, and he found that with AMCO. “Customers want a strong brand name behind the work done on their cars, and AAMCO Transmissions Total Car Care offers that strength.”

Stickler’s AAMCO Transmissions specialty shop has 6 bays and offers complete services. “While I wanted to be a transmission specialist,” continued Stickler, “I saw that vehicles need to be fully serviced with oil changes, brakes, etc.” In addition to his staff of highly-skilled technicians, the Waterbury AAMCO Center offers the exceptional services a local father and son transmission team. “Vern Bedell, and his son, Rob Bedell, both residents of Wolcott, are an unbelievable transmission repair team,” stated Stickler. “Rob takes the transmissions out of the cars, and Vern rebuilds them.” Both Vern and Rob Bedell have worked with Dave Stickler since he opened the AAMCO Transmissions Total Car Care shop in 2010.

The Waterbury AAMCO center’s skilled technicians also perform services that range from air conditioning services; battery maintenance and replacement; brake systems; computer and electrical systems diagnostics; exhaust repair and replacement to engine performance; steering and suspension.

The center continually receives positive comments from local area customers. In September 2011, a customer named Kyle wrote, “These guys are great. They did not try to sell me any extra service.” Last August, a man named Dave wrote, “I had AAMCO add a Transmission Cooler to my Toyota Highlander. The price was very good and the work was performed promptly and ready when expected. They are total care care now, and I'm going back to get a wheel bearing replaced and I expect that all will go fine.
