The 2012 StartupNation Leading Moms in Business competition ranked the top 200 mom-run businesses across the United States as determined by the combination of popular vote and the special recognition of judges for certain outstanding contestants.
“We were thrilled to participate in this contest and draw attention to e-neur moms,” said Susan Kruger, owner of SOAR® Learning, Inc. “We had a lot of wonderful customers, friends, family, and community members supporting our competition and we are so grateful for their support. As a former “struggling student,” Kruger has been teaching students of all ages how to learn (a skill that is usually NOT taught in school) and develop self-confidence for over 15 years. She is a certified teacher, learning specialist, and author of SOAR® Study Skills, a curriculum used in over 1,000 schools nationwide. She continues to work with students, parents, and educators through nationwide speaking engagements and web-based classes.
Kruger says it is a wonderfully rewarding experience to help students develop confidence and become more successful in school, but there is so much more work to do:
- 30% of US students drop out of high school.
- 40% of college students are required to take a remedial college course.
- 50% of college students drop out before getting a degree.
- 66% of high school HONOR students fall behind in college!
