Participants enjoyed a multi-cultural celebration of faith and friendship, featuring various guest speakers of diverse faiths and inspiring music.
“The idea is to promote and encourage diversity of faith and culture,” said Roxanne Hopkins, PT, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial Director of Rehab Services. “Our presenters are of many faiths, including Seventh-day Adventist, Judaism, Catholicism, Hinduism, and Muslim. Additionally, we had a string quartet and two vocalists this year.”
The hospital hosted its first Women’s Interfaith Prayer Celebration in 2001, and due to its success, has made it an annual event.
Hopkins has chaired the planning committee since the beginning. Due to the nature of the event, an intentional decision has been made to keep it small and intimate.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with women of faith in our own community,” Hopkins said. “We laugh, and cry, and lift each other up.”
Sara Humbert, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial Clinical Dietician, sings at the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial 10th annual Women’s Interfaith Prayer Celebration on May 20. The afternoon tea was designed to promote and encourage diversity of faith and culture.
